Overview – Leader’s communication calendar

The leader’s communication calendar ensures effective planning, prioritisation and timeliness of a leader’s communications. It optimises the use of a leader’s time through ‘smarter’ use of formal and informal communication opportunities. The calendar encourages the discipline of sitting down at the beginning of the year and mapping out all known dates, events and activities for the next 12 months. This enables identification of opportunities to communicate with employees in a structured and planned manner. The calendar also facilitates coordination of the leader’s travel diary with opportunities to meet employees in places to which the leader will be travelling for purposes such as client meetings or investor presentations.

It shows that leaders of top-performing organisations communicate SEVEN times per month, on average. Map out a minimum of seven communication activities every month on your communication calendar to attain best-practice standards.
